Copenhagen (København) is the capital of Denmark and its most populous city, with an urban population of 1,213,822 (as of 1 January 2012) and a metropolitan population of 1,931,467 (as of 1 January 2012). With the completion of the transnational Øresund Bridge in 2000, Copenhagen has become the centre of the increasingly integrating Øresund Region. Within this region, Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malmö are growing into a combined metropolitan area. Copenhagen is situated on the islands of Zealand and Amager.

About HDR

In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wide dynamic range allows HDR images to represent more accurately the range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight, and is often captured by way of a plurality of differently exposed pictures of the same subject matter.

The Alcázar of Seville (Spanish “Reales Alcázares de Sevilla” or “Royal Alcazars of Seville”) is a royal palace in Seville, Spain, originally aMoorish fort.

The Almohades were the first to build a palace, which was called Al-Muwarak, on the site of the modern day Alcázar. The palace is one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture. Subsequent monarchs have added their own additions to the Alcázar. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence and are administered by the Patrimonio Nacional.

The Paris Half Marathon, a popular start to the racing season.

The Half-Marathon will be celebrating its 20th birthday in March 2012. Traditionally rooted in the east of Paris, this event meanders along the avenues of the Bois de Vincennes wood, the boulevards and streets of the 12th arrondissement before entering the French capital’s city centre for a loop round the Hôtel de Ville city hall.

Up until 2003, the gathering point for Parisian runners was the Charléty stadium. The event then migrated to the Parc Floral de Paris botanic gardens in order to welcome a larger amount of participants.

The number of registrations has now reached the limit of 30,000 people. Naturally, the race attracts a regular pool of runners from the Ile de France region (68%) but also plenty of competitors from the rest of France as well as 4,000 foreigners.

The green setting of the Parc Floral allows all running enthusiasts to enjoy a coming together of sponsors, exhibitors and professionals from the running world through the special village set up for two days around the race.

The route, teeming with many musical events, enables spectators and participants to enjoy a wonderful moment discovering the monuments and districts of Paris.

It is also relatively flat, allowing a significant number of runners to beat their personal bests. Every year, elite runners from Kenya or Ethiopia put in performances of international standard.

About Cinemagraphs

Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs. Cinemagraphs, which are usually published in an animated GIF format, can give the illusion that the viewer is watching a video.

They are commonly produced by taking a series of photographs or a video recording, and, using image editing software, compositing the photographs or the video frames into a seamless loop of sequential frames, often using the animated GIF file format in such a manner that motion in part of the subject between exposures (for example, a person’s dangling leg) is perceived as a repeating or continued motion, in contrast with the stillness of the rest of the image.

The term “cinemagraph” was coined by U.S. photographers Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck, who used the technique to animate their fashion and news photographs beginning in early 2011
