Day drive to Botswana. Main cities look like North America – just as in South Africa – but the countryside is more authentic yet sadly poor. Night at camp near Gaborone. Freezing cold.

Morning drive back to Johannesburg, tour of Soweto in the afternoon – where Maseratis drive next to misery –

Game drive in the Kapama private reserve in the morning. Spotted: giraffes + baby, zebras, lions, buffalos, and flirting (!) elephants + babies. Drive to Graskop through Blake River Canyon. Beautiful view from God’s window and a quick stop in Pilgrim’s rest.

Game drive in the Kruger park in the morning. Spotted: giraffes, zebras, springboks, baboons, hippos, and warthogs. Game drive in the Kapama private reserve in the afternoon. Spotted: giraffes, zebras, lions, and buffalos.

Day drive to Nelspruit. Broke the front bumper of the rental car thanks to a bad road suggestion of the GPS lady. Night at a backpacker hostel called Funky Monkeys. Sure was funky.

Night flight from Paris to Johannesburg. A380 is the best plane ever (cameras broadcasting takeoff and landing, very quiet cabin). Only Wi-Fi is missing to make the sky the best place on earth.
